Evidence for better decisions
About GRC

Researching today for a better future.

Gesem Research and Consulting PLC is an Ethiopian research and advisory firm committed to evidence that improves programmes, institutions, and public decisions.

Gesem

Our name reflects the future—an expression of our belief that better tomorrows begin with responsible choices today.

Our story

A multidisciplinary firm built around credible evidence and useful solutions.

GRC was established to respond to a clear need: institutions require technically rigorous research and evaluation, but they also need findings that are understandable, practical, and responsive to local realities.

Our work brings together expertise in research design, monitoring and evaluation, data management, field operations, organisational development, facilitation, and report development. We collaborate with clients throughout the assignment so that methods remain relevant, evidence remains trustworthy, and recommendations remain implementable.

Purpose and direction

What guides our work.

Mission

Generate evidence that improves decisions and strengthens institutions.

We deliver high-quality research, evaluation, organisational, and capacity-development services that respond to client priorities and wider societal needs.

Values

Integrity, rigour, respect, usefulness, collaboration, and continuous learning.

These values shape how we design assignments, engage participants, interpret findings, and communicate with clients.

Professional commitments

Quality is a process, not a final edit.

We build quality assurance, ethics, inclusion, and learning into each stage of the assignment.

01

Integrity and independence

Findings are based on available evidence, transparently interpreted, and clearly separated from assumptions.

02

Do no harm and ethical practice

Methods are designed to protect participants, respect informed consent, and minimise social, safeguarding, and data risks.

03

Inclusion and contextual sensitivity

We consider gender, age, disability, language, conflict dynamics, and unequal access throughout design and analysis.

04

Use-oriented communication

Reports, briefs, presentations, and recommendations are structured around the needs of decision-makers and programme teams.

Leadership

Experienced direction, multidisciplinary delivery.

GRC mobilises specialist teams according to the technical, geographic, linguistic, and operational requirements of each assignment.
